Bobino Bagel Accelerates Its Growth in Gatineau
Since its opening in 2024, Bobino Bagel has been introducing the people of the Outaouais region to the authentic Montréal-style bagel. Through the first factory of its kind in the region, the business has quickly distinguished itself by its artisanal craftsmanship, product quality and warm hospitality. Today, it is taking a new step with the opening of a factory in Gatineau, enabling it to increase its production capacity, develop new markets and contribute to the region's economic vitality.
Summary
Business name: Bobino Bagel

Region: Outaouais

This CED support has made it possible to: increase productivity through the acquisition of specialized equipment and leasehold improvements, develop new clienteles and diversify the regional economy.
A Montréal-style bagel that delights the Outaouais region
Bobino Bagel has carved out a place for itself in the Outaouais region’s agri-food landscape thanks to its artisanal bagels and flavoured cream cheeses. Handmade according to a well-kept recipe and baked in a wood-fired oven after a bath of water and honey, its bagels remain faithful to the Montréal tradition.
The business's products are sold in its Vieux-Hull store and several points of sale in the region.
At Bobino Bagel, product and experience go hand in hand. Visitors discover a warm and friendly environment, animated by a dynamic team in an atmosphere that evolves with the seasons.
Meeting a growing demand
In recent years, Bobino Bagel has experienced sustained growth, driven by the quality of its products, authenticity and close relationship with its customers.
However, this progress has brought new challenges. With limited production capacity, the business needed to be able to scale its operations at the same pace as the demand, while maintaining product quality and customer experience. The new factory will allow it to better meet demand and continue its development with food chains and supermarkets.
"This new factory marks a major milestone for us. It provides us with the necessary infrastructure to support our growth and launches the next phase of our business's development. It will allow us to meet growing demand, while preserving what makes Bobino Bagel strong," says Colin Laramée-Plouffe, co-owner of Bobino Bagel.
CED rolls up its sleeves
Thanks to CED's support, the business was able to acquire specialized equipment and make leasehold improvements essential to the growth of its activities.
For Bobino Bagel, this funding helped realize its ambitions and lay the foundation for its next phase of growth.
"With CED's support, we were able to carry out a structural project that will allow us not only to increase our production capacity, but also to create jobs and contribute further to the economic dynamism of the Outaouais region," says Colin Laramée-Plouffe.
Growth true to its values
Bobino Bagel attributes its success as much to its staff, whom it describes as a true dream team, as to the experience offered to customers. Made up of passionate people with diverse expertise, this team contributes to the business's reputation every day.
This commitment is also reflected in its business practices: the company favours the digitization of its processes, reusable dishes, electric vehicles for delivery and community partnerships aimed at reducing food waste.
These initiatives demonstrate its willingness to grow responsibly, while remaining rooted in its community.
Customer experience at the heart of the new factory
The new facility was also designed to showcase the craftsmanship that distinguishes Bobino Bagel. Thanks to a view of the imposing wood-fired oven, visitors can watch the artisans at work and learn about the different steps in bagel making.
A shop annexed to the factory completes this immersion in the universe of Bobino Bagel. The business also aims to enhance this experience by eventually adding bagel-making workshops for children.
Forward-looking ambitions
In addition to creating around 40 jobs and contributing to the vitality of the regional agri-food sector, this new factory will allow Bobino Bagel to strengthen its presence in Quebec and Ontario.
True to its artisanal know-how and spirit of innovation, Bobino Bagel intends to continue its development while preserving what distinguishes it: the quality of its products and the experience offered to its customers. In fact, the business plans to strengthen its presence in major food chains.
"Our goal is simple: to offer the best possible experience in our industry. We still have many ways to improve, and that is where we are focusing our efforts. Of course, we are thinking about new growth opportunities, but we will only grow if we are able to preserve the experience that makes Bobino strong," concludes Colin Laramée-Plouffe.
