How to do business with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
The Government of Canada promotes and facilitates Canadian defence industry exports through a whole-of-government effort. National Defence, PSPC, ISED, CCC, GAC and Trade Commissioner Service in Belgium and Luxembourg are working together to support your business.
What does NATO buy?
NATO procures a wide range of goods and services:
- ammunition
- aviation components and upgrades
- civil construction works
- clothing
- command and control equipment
- deployable camp and services (food, fuel, airport, security, power, water, communication, etc.)
- IT hardware and peripherals
- land vehicles (commercial and military)
- medical, pharmaceutical equipment and supplies
- satellite communications services
- software (off-the-shelf and bespoke)
- transportation (vehicle, sea containers, personnel, etc.)
Who is buying?
Multiple NATO organizations procure goods and services. However, the large majority of NATO purchases (approx. CAD$ 6B a year) is contracted by the following two NATO agencies:
- NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA)
NCIA develops, procures, and supports Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance capabilities for NATO. - NATO
Support Agency and Procurement (NSPA)
NSPA is NATO’s principal logistics support management agency. NSPA helps NATO nations by organizing common procurement, managing weapon system life cycle, and supplying services to deployed operations.
