Defence Major Infrastructure Projects

The Defence Major Infrastructure Projects list provides a comprehensive, searchable database of construction projects that are estimated at $25 million and above. The list includes projects from every Canadian Armed Forces base and wing across the country and major housing projects to be undertaken by the Canadian Forces Housing Agency.

The database only covers those major capital projects that are approved to proceed as of November 2025. The Department of National Defence (DND) continues to work on a broader program of work including infrastructure for the new Canadian Patrol Submarines, Ranges and Training Areas, new housing and living accommodations projects, and more.

DND’s Major Infrastructure Projects list will be updated annually at a minimum.

Project phases

Planned

These projects are in their initial planning phase. The information provided includes the

• type of project (accommodation, training, operational)
• location
• order of magnitude costing
• estimated delivery dates

Pre-procurement

These projects are in active development and will proceed to procurement for design and construction in the next few years.

Active procurement

These are projects that are already in design and will proceed to construction in a year or two. In many cases, contracts will already be in place with the general contractor, but sub-contractors for construction have yet to be identified.
