Supporting Reservists
Employers and educators, your Reservists need your support!
The primary role of the Reserve force is to augment, sustain and support the Regular component of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). They play three key roles in the CAF:
- Operational, trained and ready to answer the call of duty
- CAF presence and community connection
- Citizenship, displaying leadership and commitment to country
In order to meet these commitments, Reservists need time to attend training, or participate in operations.
Employers and educators are not alone in supporting their reservists; there are a number of programs and services for you to draw upon in order to make it easier for your Reservists to attend critical training, or even deploy in support of operations. It is here that reservists gain valuable knowledge, skills and experience that they can bring back to their civilian employers.

Employer Events
To understand the value of Canadian Armed Forces military Reserve service and foster a positive relationship, Reserve Units and Employer Support Programs hosts employer events and Executreks.
With Glowing Hearts - Reservist Support Initiative
The With Glowing Hearts Initiative provides guidance and tools to help employers understand who reservists are and what they do. The initiative was developed by the civilian volunteers of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) to support reservists and employers.
