Annex A - Cadet Award for Bravery
Cadet Award for Bravery
The Cadet Award of Bravery may be awarded to a JCR or cadet who performs an outstanding deed of valour, involving risk of life, in attempting to save the life or property of others.
Nominations are forwarded from the CRPG CO, through their respective CoC, to CJCR. The CJCR Honours and Awards Committee is the approving authority for this award.
After the award is presented, the CRPG should issue a press release detailing the circumstances of the act for which the JCR has been recognized.

Annex B - Lord Strathcona Medal
JCR Nomination Form for the Lord Strathcona Medal
This medal is intended to recognize a JCR or cadet who has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance and dedication during their time in the program, and who is a positive example to others.
It particularly emphasizes performance in the areas the Lord Strathcona Trust Fund’s charter calls military drills, military training, rifle shooting, physical training and patriotism. In today’s youth programs, these translate to drill, Canadian Armed Forces Familiarization (Ranger Skills), marksmanship, physical activity and citizenship.
As well, the medal should go to a young person whose contributions to their patrol have improved the experience for other JCRs, and who will therefore leave a positive and lasting legacy in the program.
Every Patrol may award one Lord Strathcona Medal per year. Each JCR can only receive this medal once. The CRPG CO is the awarding authority for this medal.
This JCR meets the following criteria (please check any that apply):
Shows dedication and dependability by regularly participating in training and activities
Has been an active member of the program for at least three years
Consistently sets the example for others in behaviour and attitude
Has made a significant contribution to the patrol by:

Annex C - Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence
JCR Nomination Form for the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence
This medal is funded by the Royal Canadian Legion and is intended to recognize a JCR or cadet whose individual endeavours in citizenship have helped to advance the objectives of the program, whose attitude and behavior set the example for others, and who helps to create a safe and welcoming environment within the Patrol, Corps or Squadron.
For JCRs, the program objectives are for youth to become competent living on the land, be of value to their community, build self-confidence, and make healthy choices.
The RCLME should ideally go to a JCR who actively volunteers and provides community service outside of the program, and whose actions within the Patrol help other JCRs and support overall morale and cohesion.
Every Patrol may award one RCLME per year. Each JCR can only receive this medal once. The CRPG CO is the awarding authority for this medal.
This JCR meets the following criteria (please check any that apply):
Regularly engages in community service and citizenship activities outside of the JCR Program
Participates actively in all JCR training and activities, particularly those having to do with citizenship
Consistently sets the example for others through their attitude and behaviour
Enhances the Patrol environment through:

Annex D - Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada Junior Canadian Ranger Medal of Merit
JCR Nomination Form for the ANAVETS JCR Medal of Merit
The Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada (ANAVETS), as a legacy to its desire to promote excellence and awareness of the Canadian Cadet Organization, has established the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada Junior Canadian Ranger Medal of Merit (ANAVETS JCR Medal of Merit).
A total of five medals will be awarded annually (one per CRPG) to acknowledge the top JCR attending the National Leader Enhanced Training Session (NLETS).
The decoration consists of a pewter-coloured medallion with ribbon. At the centre of the medallion is the centre portion of the ANAVETS insignia. Circling the insignia is written "Army Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada" on one face and the French equivalent on the other face. Along the edge, there is a striped border of red, white and blue. The ribbon, 3.5 cm wide, is blue with two sets of thin vertical stripes of red and white. A metal bar at the top of the ribbon reads JCR and a second metal bar at the bottom of the ribbon, to which the medallion is joined, reads MERITUM.

Annex E - Order of St. George Medal
JCR Nomination Form for the Order of St. George Medal
This medal is entirely funded by the Grand Priory of the Order of Saint George, and is intended to recognize the top Staff JCR or Staff Cadet at an Enhanced Training Session (ETS) or Cadet Training Centre (CTC).
It is presented to a Staff JCR who has demonstrated distinguished and exemplary achievement in the program, and who sets the example to others in skill, attitude, service and behaviour.
This medal is presented annually to one Staff JCR on the Basic ETS, and one Staff JCR on the Advanced ETS. Each JCR can only receive this medal once. The CO of the hosting CRPG is the awarding authority for this medal, and will form a committee to select the most deserving nominees.
This JCR meets the following criteria (please check all that apply):
Meets all the skill and knowledge requirements of ETS training
Consistently sets the example for others in attitude and behaviour
Is a member in good standing of the JCR Program at their home Patrol
Has been an active member of the program for at least three years
Has demonstrated outstanding leadership and compassion for subordinates
Was able to leverage his/her knowledge of leadership techniques to motivate subordinates to complete tasks as required
Has completed in community service activities as part of ETS
Has demonstrated strong instructional abilities

Annex F - Cadet Commendation
Cadet Commendation
The Cadet Commendation may be awarded to a JCR or cadet for outstanding deeds in attempting to save the life or property of another person.
The award consists of both a certificate and a pin that may be worn on the uniform.
Recommendations are forwarded from the CRPG CO, through their respective CoC, to CJCR. The CJCR Honours and Awards Committee is the approving authority for this award.
After the award is presented, the CRPG should issue a press release detailing the circumstances of the act for which the JCR has been recognized.

Annex G - Commander CJCR Commendation
Commander CJCR Commendation
Awarded by the Commander of Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers, the Comd CJCR Commendation recognizes the achievements of youth and adults in the program, particularly those who have contributed to the program and the organization through significant personal effort and example.
The CRPG CO can nominate a JCR or adult staff member for the commendation, through their respective CoC, to CJCR. The CJCR Honours and Awards Committee is the approving authority for this award.
In rare cases, JCRs may also be eligible for the Chief of Defence Staff or Vice-Chief of Defence Staff commendations, which are awarded for extraordinary accomplishments and life-saving respectively.

Annex H - Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program recognizes youth achievement in the areas of service, skill development, physical recreation, and adventurous journey.
Many of the activities included in regular JCR training meet the requirements for the bronze, silver and gold awards, which are available to all young people between the ages of 14 and 24.
JCRs can earn these awards by tracking their activities and accomplishments online or in a record book. CJCR has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award to encourage members of the JCR and Cadet programs to participate.
All activities counted toward the award must be extra-curricular and voluntary.
For each level of the award, JCRs must complete and track activities that fall into four categories:
- Community Service
- Skill Building
- Physical Recreation
- Adventurous Journey
In the Gold level, there is an additional category called a Gold Project, which is up to the participant to design.
The program is self-paced and flexible, so that most JCRs who are interested in participating can do so.

Annex I - Canada Company Bursary
Canada Company Bursary
The Canada Company Bursary is awarded annually to two deserving JCRs from each CRPG.
The award recognizes exemplary leadership, teamwork, and performance in the three skill areas of the program: Life Skills, Ranger Skills and Traditional Skills.
Nomination guidelines are as follows:
- nominations originating from the Patrol level should be coordinated within the Canadian Army (CA) with final selection to be made by CRPG CO (or designate) each year.
- the selected nominations should reach CJCR by the bursary deadline, which is generally in early May.
- nomination information must include the name of the identified recipient, their JCR Patrol, and their place of residence. If feasible, the nomination should also include the date and location of a suitable event where the award may be presented, such as an Enhanced Training Session (ETS)
Award presentation is to be coordinated in concert between CA and CJCR. Considerations will include:
- final location and date for presentation to be selected in collaboration with Canada Company.
- where possible, bursaries will be presented by a representative of the Canada Company.
- Director Army Public Affairs should have the lead on PA planning for award presentations, highlighting the JCR’s achievement and Canada Company’s support. CJCR PA support will be made available.
Details on the precise method for awarding funds will be at the discretion of the CRPG CO (info through respective CoC to CJCR). Options include, but are not limited to:
- Credit towards tuition, fees, or equipment associated with the recipient’s vocation, advanced learning pursuits, or post-secondary education and activities.
- Direct payment to the selected JCR.
