On this page

Introduction

1. An officer of the military occupation Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC) or an Air cadet may be authorized to wear the Power Pilot or the Glider Pilot Wings under the conditions stipulated below.

Application

2. A CIC officer or an Air cadet who has successfully completed the Air Cadet Program Power Pilot Scholarship (PPS) or Glider Pilot Scholarship (GPS) is authorized to wear the appropriate wings, either the Power Pilot Wings or the Glider Pilot Wings.

3. A CIC officer who obtains a Transport Canada (TC) Aeroplane or Glider Pilot Licence independently from the Air Cadet Program may be authorized to wear the appropriate wings, either the Power Pilot Wings or the Glider Pilot Wings. The individual must be actively participating in the Air Cadet Gliding Program (ACGP) as a pilot, and be selected by the Regional Cadet Air Operations Officer (RCA Ops O) to undergo the applicable conversion course detailed in A-CR-CCP-242/PT-005, ACGP manual. More specifically, the holder of a TC Aeroplane Pilot Licence must successfully complete the Tow Pilot Conversion course to be eligible for the Power Pilot Wings, and the holder of a TC Glider Pilot Licence must successfully complete the Soaring Pilot Conversion to the Air Cadet Gliding Program (ACGP) Pilot course to be eligible for the Glider Pilot Wings.

4. A request to be considered for either conversion course must be forwarded through the chain of command to the RCA Ops O for approval. The CF Dress Instructions manual (A-AD-265-000/AG-001) governs the wearing of wings for qualified CIC officers. Dress instructions applicable to cadets are contained in CATO 55-04.
