1. The increasing use of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), evolving Transport Canada (TC) policy (Ref A), and updated CAF direction (Ref B) necessitate a review and update of CJCR Gp Order 8030-13 Unoccupied Aircraft Systems (Ref C). This review will ensure alignment with current military and civil aviation regulations and establish a safe, sustainable approach for the CJCR Program.
2. Pending completion of the review, identification of an enduring program approach, and the conduct of controlled trials over the coming months, there is a need to place interim restrictions on UAS use. Effective immediately, these restrictions include:
   1. Only UAS with a maximum take-off weight of less than 250 grams (microdrones) are authorized for use;
   2. Authorized UAS shall not be equipped with a camera, whether integrated or added as a payload;
   3. UAS operations are restricted to indoor use only and may require the permission of the facility owner/operator; and
   4. All operations must be conducted in accordance with the intent and principles of applicable Transport Canada, CAF, local, and facility regulations and policies.
3. In the event of discrepancies between TC, CAF, local/facility policy, and CJCR Gp Order 8030-13, Unoccupied Aircraft Systems, the most restrictive or updated policy shall apply. Where uncertainty exists, CC/SQN shall halt UAS activities and seek clarification/approvals through the chain of command.
