Cold Lake CTC Joining Instructions
CTC Services
Laundry
Course cadets and staff cadets are required to bring their own laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets, or they may purchase it from the cadet canteen.
Irons and ironing boards are available for use.
Canteen
The canteen provides a social atmosphere where you can relax after a long day of training. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase. Depending on availability, you may also purchase toiletries, polish, souvenirs, etc.
Accommodations
Cadet accommodations are multi-occupant and access restricted. Sleeping equipment consists two-tier bunk beds or single beds (location dependent). All bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows) is provided. Storage for personal belongings is provided via Steel lockers, “barrack boxes” or similar to those in schools provide security for cadets’ personal belongings. Cadets are expected to bring their own padlocks.
Visitor Access
Access to Cold Lake CTC is restricted to authorized personnel only. Visitors will be required to pre-arrange pick-up and produce Government-issued photo identification at the Operations Centre in building 79 upon arrival at the training centre.
Medical
Cadets who become ill or injured during authorized CCO Activities (Cadet Activity) are eligible for certain health and dental care entitlements, further information can be found here: Medical Care for Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers.
Course Specific Information and requirement
All cadets are encouraged to bring additional elemental t-shirts if they have them.
Cadets attending Pilot Training Courses
Review the Supplemental Joining Instructions:

And also bring:
- For PPTC cadets who have their glider pilot qualification, bring your Transport Canada aviation document booklet
- For those who do not have the above booklet, bring all the following documents:
- original proof of citizenship
- valid government-issued photo ID with signature
- passport photo (1)
- Original Transport Canada Category 1 or 3 medical certificate (on paper)
- If you are qualified, bring your Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A)
- Extra element T-shirt (4)
- Extra sneakers (GPTC)
- Sunglasses (with prescription lenses if necessary)
- Reuseable water bottle
Cadets attending Aviation Courses
No specific requirements for this course.
Cadets attending Fitness Courses
Cadets are encouraged to bring additional sportswear, as multiple changes of clothing may be needed throughout the training day. Quick-drying athletic clothing is recommended for comfort. If available, cadets may also wish to bring an extra pair of athletic shoes; however, there is no requirement to purchase additional footwear specifically for the course.
Cadets attending Survival Courses
Approximately 50% of training will be conducted in an outdoor field environment. All required field equipment will be provided. However, cadets should be prepared for cool or wet weather, particularly during evenings, and are encouraged to bring moisture-wicking base layers (e.g., undershirts) to wear beneath their issued uniforms for added comfort.
