CJCR Gp Honours and Recognition | Preface

Preface

  1. The development of a culture of recognition within the Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group (CJCR Gp) is crucial in achieving our mandate to develop confident and self-sufficient community leaders. Honours and Recognition (H&R) programs help increase morale, engagement, and wellness of our personnel, volunteers, and our youth. These essential factors aid in the retention of our participants and the sustained growth of our organization.
  2. As such, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the CJCR Gp Honours and Recognition manual. This publication combines various aide memoires, directions and other H&R documents into a single reference. It was created to assist all Cadet and JCR stakeholders in promoting both existing Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) honours and awards for eligible serving members, as well as Canadian Cadet Organizations (CCO) recognition programs.
  3. This manual has been made possible through the dedicated work and collaborative efforts of part-time and full-time Cadet Instructor Cadre Officers throughout the CJCR Gp. Numerous consultations took place in developing this guide, including representatives of the Canadian Army and outside award sponsors such as the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada (ANAVETS), the Order of St. George, the Royal Canadian Air Force Association (RCAF), the Royal Canadian Legion and the Canada Company, as well as Regional Cadet Support Unit (RCSU) staff, and finally personnel from the three Cadet Leagues as it relates to their respective cadet honours and awards.
  4. Formally recognizing outstanding work, professionalism, dedication, and other meritorious contributions made by our adult members and participants is key to the continued success of the CAF and Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers programs.
  5. I therefore ask all Cadet and JCR program personnel and stakeholders to encourage and promote the H&R programs outlined in this manual throughout the CCO and put forward nominations for deserving individuals.
  6. I look forward to celebrating the efforts of our people. It is an honour to serve as the CJCR Gp Commander alongside such devoted CAF members, key partners, and stakeholders as we together help strengthen Canadian communities by investing in youth.
