Patient Rights and Responsibilities

All patients and staff at the CAF HS C (Edm) have the right to a safe environment and to be treated with dignity and respect. Our goal is to provide barrier free care and services and to ensure the following patient rights are upheld:

  • to be treated with dignity and respect;
  • to be listened to and have their concerns heard;
  • to have relevant information to make an informed decision about their care;
  • to participate in their own care;
  • privacy and confidentiality of all care experiences and medical records;
  • be provided cultural and gender sensitive care;
  • to have a chaperone for examinations (if requested); and
  • to have unsafe care or errors in care reported

To help the team provide quality care, patient's also have a responsibility to provide relevant information about their health, voice concerns or ask questions when they don't understand care decisions and to attend scheduled/booked appointments.
