Get to know CFMWS’s new Chief Warrant Officer: Ian St-Laurent

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) is pleased to announce the appointment of CWO Ian St-Laurent as our new Chief Warrant Officer. CWO St-Laurent joins us following completion of his term as Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) unit Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) at CFB Trenton.

CWO St-Laurent was raised in “La Belle Province” born in Ste-Anne des Monts and grew up an hour east of Québec City in a town name La Pocatière. He is fluent in both official languages.

He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in January 1990. Following QL3 infantry qualification, he was posted to CFB Lahr with the 3R22R infantry battalion in September 1990. Remaining on station in Germany for three years.

From 1993 to 2004, CWO St-Laurent was employed in different capacities with the Canadian Airborne Regiment, 3R22R and 3PPCLI as member of a paratrooper company, direct fire support platoon and combat stores man. He deployed in Croatia in 1992, Haiti in 1997, Bosnia in 2000 and Afghanistan in 2001.

He joined CANSOFCOM in July 2004 as a Cpl where he filled numerous leadership positions over the years, including deploying on Op IMPACT and Op UNIFER.

CWO St-Laurent lives with his tremendously supportive spouse Petra Lepage. He has one daughter Jade (24) that he is extremely proud of. 

CFMWS would also like to extend a special thank you to CWO Nathalie Fortin who has been in the role since 2022. On behalf of the entire CFMWS team, thank you, CWO Fortin, for your service, commitment, and outstanding contributions. We wish you continued success and fulfillment in all your future endeavors as you arereleased from the CAF in August.
