Managers: Preventing Pay Issues

August 5, 2022 - Defence Stories

Pay and Benefits

While we may not have control over all pay issues, there are steps that managers can take to minimize them.

Problems often arise with new requests such as actings, new hires and transfers between departments. Many of these are processed automatically—if they’re submitted in advance of the effective date of the HR action or on time, pay issues are mitigated. Late submissions have to be manually processed, which results in delays which impact employee’s pay.

Managers should take proactive steps to prevent pay issues. How? Read about what you have to do and when with the Manager’s Pay Responsibilities Calendar (PDF, 345 KB) (link accessible only on the National Defence network). Watch PSPC’s video (link accessible only on the National Defence network). Timing does matter. With a little effort, managers can help make sure employees are paid accurately and on time.
