Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members can help identify factors in the work environment that affect their well-being and retention decisions, and inform leadership decisions, by taking part in the Your Say Matters: CAF Well-Being Survey. This will help to optimize the well-being of CAF personnel and the development of retention initiatives.

The well-being of our personnel is of the highest priority to the CAF and the Department of National Defence (DND), and the retention of trained and experienced personnel is fundamental to the professionalism and operational effectiveness of the organization.

The survey has now been emailed to randomly selected Regular Force and Primary Reserve members. It’s your opportunity to be heard and to provide CAF leadership with your personal insights on a variety of topics.

Your feedback is valued: if you have received a survey link, we encourage you to complete the survey today. Topics addressed in the survey include:

  • Organizational climate and support
  • Experiences with supervisors and peers
  • Job satisfaction and perception of stress
  • Work-life balance
  • Pay and benefits
  • Rewards and recognition
  • Satisfaction with career, training, and postings
  • Your well-being
  • Career intentions

Participation is completely voluntary and there are no negative consequences as a result of survey participation, partial participation, or withdrawal. Respondents may choose not to answer any question that they are not comfortable with, or that they feel might compromise their identity. Information collected will be kept strictly confidential, and no information that could possibly identify the respondent will be requested or stored with the dataset.

This research has been approved by the Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces Social Science Research Review Board (SSRRB), in accordance with DAOD 5062-0 and 5062-1. The SSRRB Approval # is 2000/21F.

Questions about the survey can emailed to Dr. Alla Skomorovsky or Dr. Joelle Laplante, Director General Military Personnel Research and Analysis at YourSayMatters-VotreOpinionCompte@forces.gc.ca.
