Public Service employees: Internal second language written and oral tests now available!

Would you like to have your second language skills assessed? The National Centre of Expertise for Language Training and Testing now offers internal second language written and oral tests for which the results are valid for 5 years!
Our evaluation services are offered by priority to the following groups:
- Executives
- Any employee in non-imperative staffing for which there is a limited timeframe to reach the required bilingual language profile
- Any employee whose position is in a re-identification process with a language profile that becomes bilingual or profile raised
- Any employee on language training
Here are the suggested options for the tests of reading comprehension and written expression in French and English:
Standard Tests of the Public Service Commission (PSC) on paper-copy:
- In person, administered at NDHQ- Carling Campus
- For all levels; the candidate can receive: A, B, C, E, or X.
- Results valid 5 years & transferable to other positions.
Unsupervised Internet Tests (UIT) - Developed in response to COVID-19:
- Remotely by internet
- To validate the level B or C only
- Results valid 1 year & non-transferable to other positions.
Here are the suggested options for the oral test in French and English:
Standard Test of the Public Service Commission (PSC) - Oral Language Assessment (OLA):
- Remotely by MS Teams
- Administered by PSC Assessors and our internal Assessors
- Results valid 5 years & transferable to other positions
Alternative Oral Test - Developed in response to COVID-19:
- Remotely by telephone
- Administered by our internal assessors
- Results valid 1 year & non-transferable to other positions
