Launch of the 2021 Student Exit Survey

August 10, 2021 - Defence Stories

The 2021 Student Exit Survey (SES) will be officially launched on August 10, 2021, and will run until September 10, 2021. The goal of the SES is to take a snapshot of students’ work experiences in the federal public service near the end of their work term. The survey will be available online and by phone and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

This will be the fifth edition of the survey since its inception in 2017. The input provided by students will inform strategies to enhance student work experiences in the future. This year we are reaching out directly to you to ask for your support in promoting the survey to help increase student participation numbers.

Here are some key messages that can be shared with student employees in your organization:

  • Calling all students to participate in the 2021 Student Exit Survey: Have your say and don’t miss the survey launching on August 10
  • All student employees are eligible to participate, whether their work term is ending or being extended, or they are being rehired internally or in another organization
  • Responses will be kept confidential in accordance with the Privacy Act and will not be linked to any personal information

Given the student recruitment that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 SES will help us gauge the success of our collective efforts to adapt to the new reality of virtual work. It will allow the public service to adjust to the changing needs of employees and maintain a competitive position in attracting much-needed talent to renew its workforce.

A message will be sent to deputy ministers and heads of Human Resources, and through manager and youth networks, to inform them of the launch of this important survey. Spread the word among your teams, retweet from @TBS_Canada  (you are now leaving the Government of Canada website) and follow the discussion using #StudentExitSurvey hashtag. This year, we want to hear from as many students as possible!
