Friday Update: Difficult. High-maintenance. Emotional. They need to calm down: Too often, we hear these descriptors used by persons in privileged positions to discount or diminish the words of persons without that same privilege.
Even if you’ve never had to fight to be heard in this #DefenceTeam, others do every day, and it is *exhausting*. Consider whose perspectives you’ve pre-judged, and whether you’re acting on that bias.
We also never know what external stresses our colleagues are dealing with. It’s posting season and that’s enormously stressful on our military families, even if they’ve done it before. Be flexible, kind and remember to say “thank you.”

DND staff: As per collective agreements, treat COVID vaccine appointments like a medical or dental appointments; they don’t require formal entry in the leave system. That said, if you feel sick after your jab, book that time as Sick Leave.
Vaccines save lives. Thanks to all who’ve chosen to be vaccinated so far, and to those ready to roll up their sleeves when their turn comes. Your choice is a both an act of self-interest and of community service.
