Now is the time to complete the 2020 Public Service Employee Survey (PSES)

The 2020 Public Service Employee Survey (PSES) is your chance to help shape the future of the Public Service and work environment of the Department of National Defence.
Your opinion matters.
By completing the survey (which runs until Jan. 29, 2021) and anonymously sharing your views on your workplace, you are helping to drive real change within the organization. As DND and the federal public service at large adapt to the changes to our workforce due to COVID-19, your input matters more than ever before.
Feedback from last year’s survey resulted in efforts being made to improve the workplace across Defence, including:
- Workplace: Even prior to the pandemic, the refresh of the Civilian Flexible Work Program provided you with increased flexibility to alter your work schedule, the number of hours you work, or the location from which you work, offering a greater work-life balance.
- Harassment and Discrimination: DND continues to focus on the elimination of harassment, discrimination, and racism within the workplace. The creation of safe spaces for employees who are Black, Indigenous, or other underrepresented groups within the Defence Team is a priority.
- Compensation: Multiple initiatives have been implemented to diminish the impacts of pay issues experienced by staff as a result of Phoenix, one being Client Care Calls whereby employees are contacted directly to resolve their pay-related issues.
Completing the survey is as easy as 1-2-3
- All civilian DND employees should have already received an email to both your regular Forces and ECN (Office 365) accounts from the survey administrator, “Advanis.”
- The sender name “2020 PSES – SAFF 2020” will appear in the “From” field and you will be invited to complete the 2020 PSES.
- The survey takes about 25-to-30 minutes to complete, and your manager will ensure that you have enough time to complete it during your workday. You can also complete the survey over the phone by calling 1-866-539-7829.
If you haven’t received an email invitation to participate in the survey, please contact Advanis at 1-866-539-7829 or at pses-saff@advanis.ca to receive your unique link.
This link is specific to the individual user and cannot be shared with other employees in the organization. However, the unique link can be forwarded to personal email and accessed from a mobile device or home computer.
The survey administrator will ensure that your responses remain confidential and used for statistical purposes only. Overall departmental results will be available in spring 2021.
