Managers: Vacancy Management Exercise

Director, Civilian Classification and Organization (DCCO) is continuing to execute on Deputy Minister’s direction to eliminate vacant and unfunded positions and to achieve clean data.
All positions that have been vacant for 18 months without active staffing will be eliminated on a monthly basis. DCCO produces quarterly dashboards for L1 comptrollers and HR points of contact to proactively eliminate positions that are approaching this 18 months vacancy deadline.
It’s critical that managers let their staffing advisors know well in advance if they’re planning on staffing a position. Staffing will create a job opening for the position so it doesn’t get deleted during the monthly vacancy management exercise.
Effective November 1st, only positions abolished within the last 2 months with active staffing will be recreated. If managers were actively staffing positions that were eliminated, please contact your staffing advisor.
