The first year of the Defence Data Strategy

The Defence Data Strategy was released one year ago. It sets out a vision for National Defence where data are leveraged in all aspects of Defence programs, enhancing our defence capabilities and decision-making, and providing an information advantage during military operations.
To help ensure the data is readily available, trusted, authoritative, and reliable, the Assistant Deputy Minister (Data, Innovation, Analytics) is working with other Level 1 organizations across the Defence Team to institutionalize data governance. This entails the development of policies and standards to enable the use of data as a shared, strategic asset.

Data & Analytics Key Accomplishments
since ADM(DIA) stood up as an L1 organization in July 2018
In 2019, ADM(DIA) stood up the Defence Resource Business Modernization Programme to lead the modernization of defence resource management. The DRBM Programme includes the flagship project, DRMIS Modernization, and other projects and initiatives.
ADM(DIA) is the home of the Public Service Beyond 2020 Renewal Program and the departmental Defence Innovation Exchange (Innovation Ex) initiative.
CDS/DM Joint Directive to develop and operationalize a Defence Program Analytics capability (2017).
2018

- Launched the interdepartmental CDO Council
