Managers: Impact of COVID-19 on Classification Conversion

There are delays in Treasury Board Secretariat’s (TBS) mandated classification conversion initiative due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic.

The Computer Systems (CS) occupational group conversion to Information Technology (IT) that was tentatively scheduled to occur in December 2020 is currently being assessed and monitored by TBS and OCHRO to identify a revised timeline. In the interim, Director, Civilian Classification and Organization (DCCO) continues to update all CS positions to be ready for conversion by the end of September 2020.

The Program and Administrative Services (PA) restructuring and new Comptrollership (CT) occupational group conversion timelines have not been confirmed by TBS and OCHRO. In the interim, DCCO is launching a mapping blitz for the PA and FI groups in fall 2020 to ensure we are ready for conversion.

Until TBS and OCHRO share more information and timelines, Director, Civilian Classification and Organization (DCCO) is continuing to prepare for conversion by updating 100% of jobs with standardized job descriptions. DCCO is collaborating with management and unions to ensure fairness and transparency. Conversion updates, tools and educational resources will be shared as they become available.
