The theme of RIMPAC in 2026 captures exactly what RIMPAC is all about, and the theme is "Partners: Integrated and Prepared." When you have 30 nations, 30 ships, five submarines, and almost 200 aircraft coming together, gives you the opportunity to work together and learn how we can fight together in the future.
RIMPAC is the largest maritime exercise in the world and operating at this scale gives us advantages that we do not have when we train and operate on our own. We are here to showcase the upgrades that we've made to this submarine. We're here to showcase the skill of Canadian submariners. We will be providing a realistic opposing force. We will be providing the stealthiest and most aggressive submarine we can so that they can practice their ability to detect, track, and prosecute us in a realistic high-end scenario.
What's really rewarding about this exercise series is getting to see the differences between the number of navies and ground forces and air assets that are involved, but also the commonalities that we have and our ability to work together to achieve common goals.
Even though we all speak different languages, we all know different things, and we all know similar things, we just use hands and pointing and it seems to work out pretty well. Just the integration with other teams and nationalities, that's always my favourite part.
The exercises that we execute are important, but it's the relationships, the shared understanding, and the common goals of a free and open Indo Pacific that unite us.
