Defence Team News | Behind the scenes at this year's Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo

Video / August 28, 2024

Transcript

Cpl Graham Lynk: The Tattoo is a great chance for people within the community to come and see how it is that we perform with our multinational partners as well. I think it’s really important for everyone to come out and actually be able to see this.

Cpl Sky-Lynn Fisher: For me, it’s wonderful. There’s a great deal of pride. It’s very interesting to be able to meet other foreign members, to see both the similarities and the differences in our way of doing things, and our culture. At night, it truly is the culminating point. It’s very interesting.

This year, we have some people from everywhere: we have musicians from Germany, we have another guard, the King’s [guard], we have dancers, we have people who came from Kenya, we have people coming from everywhere.

Cpl Graham Lynk: The prep for us for the International Tattoo was fast and furious. We came together very well. We practised hard for the last couple of days with very long hours.

Avr Rebecca Mainardi: At first it was quite long days and we were on our feet for most of it. But it was really cool to see the tangible results of everything you have been working towards and then coming together and seeing it all fluent now, it just feels like, we’re really proud of what we’re doing here.

Cpl Sky-Lynn Fisher: I hope they can see the pride we all share; we’re all here because we want to be here, because we’re proud of what we do in the military. It’s something I hope everyone can experience, because the Centennial is something that will only come around once in our lives. I hope this is something that they’ll actually get a chance to experience.

Cpl Graham Lynk: It’s an honour honestly. I’ve been to a couple of these shows growing up. I’m from Cape Breton myself, and to be able to be here and actually participate is a really cool feeling.
