Hi. I'm Major General Downes, I'm the Surgeon General of the Canadian Forces and Commander of the Canadian Forces Health Services Group and I'm here today to take the 60 Seconds Challenge
"What are the best ways to prevent COVID-19?"
Keep your hands clean, social distance, maintain cough etiquette, so that's mean coughing or sneezing into a tissue or into your elbow in order to avoid spreading droplets into the environment.
"What kind of exercise are you doing to stay active?"
I walk the dog every evening and I do run two, three times a week. I do find that that helps clear the mind and helps maintain productivity.
"What are some online tools available to help support mental health?"
Well, in the Defence Team, we have access to CFMAP for military members and they have the EAP for public servants. We also have access to things like LifeSpeak, and there are also many other apps available through other health jurisdictions as well as other organizations that may offer tools that could be useful to CAF members, public servants and their families.
"What is something that you feel very passionately about?"
I feel passionately about doing a good job all the time. I know that people in high command are committed to doing the best they can every single day for the people that they serve and that's something that I'm proud of for myself and for my team.
