What’s up everyone! I'm Sailor First Class Murphy. I am a Weapons Engineering Technician who specializes in communication onboard HMCS William Hall. Today I'll be doing the 60 second challenge.
Alright, first question in one sentence, what does a Weapons Engineering Technician do? We maintain and we do preventative and corrective maintenance on board ships.
Toughest place you've had to fix equipment? Aloft, preferably the mass. That's been the coolest but also toughest.
Favourite system to work on? SATCOM (Satellite Communications), hands down.
Day shift or watch rotations? Day shift. You get a little bit more sleep.
How to How do you unwind after a long day on board? Watch anime, play video games, crush Coke Zeros.
What's your favourite 10 o’clock soup when you're at sea? French onion, not chowder.
What might surprise people about your job? I do a little bit of everything, not only technician work. You kind of help each other out whenever we can.
Finish this sentence. The best part of being a weapon engineering technician is the skills you learn.
Biggest surprise when you started in this occupation. Friends I made along the way.
Where do you work most shop, ship or alongside? Alongside. Going up high, it seems scary.
And that's all of them that's the 60 second challenge.
