No you do not, but you do have to engage folks across all the relevant domains, so science, engineering, policy and the Canadian Armed Forces.
Hi, I'm Magaly Obas Compton, I am the lead for Quantum and Emerging S&T policy at Defence Research and Development Canada, and I'm here to do the 60 second challenge.

What is science policy?
Science policy is the thoughtful and coordinated advancement of science and technology research and development. It also guides the use of those developed research and results for the benefit of the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadians.
Can you explain Quantum in one sentence?
Um, Quantum science is the study of the very small such as atoms and photons, it's about understanding how they react to each other, and how they interact with the world around them, and figuring out how we can actually use them in a real world setting.
What is the best part of my job?
My team, they're super engaged, I learn from them everyday, and they're really great people.
What are your day to day duties as the Quantum Science Policy Lead?
Um, it's important for me to understand the developments in quantum policy such as Canada's national quantum strategy, and I also engage folks across DND and CAF, who are interested in Quantum developments.
How is science policy developed at DND/CAF?
Uh, so it's developed through research and the collaboration of experts across various domains , such as science, engineering, policy and the Canadian Armed Forces.
