Hi. I'm CWO Patrick Bergevin, a Canadian Armed Forces Master Driver, and as part of the Road and Vehicle Safety Week, I agreed to take the 60 Seconds Challenge. I have a bunch of questions in my hat, so let's give it a go.
“What is a Master Driver?”
A Master Driver is a senior technical advisor for a commander who advises on transportation matters.
“How do you think we'll be commuting in 15 years?”
Autonomous vehicles.
“What behaviour puts drivers most at risk?”
Offensive driving.
“What can Canada do to improve road safety?”
I think it's more like driver education.
“What are the prerequisite skills to become a Master Driver in the Canadian Armed Forces?”
Knowledge, expertise and experience.
“Why is National Road Safety Week important?”
We need to remind ourselves of all the risks that exist when we hit the roads.
“Do you think cars will ever fly?”
No.
“If you could become an expert on anything other than driving, what would it be?”
Woodworking.
“Automatic or manual transmission?”
Manual transmission for sure.
