MOSID 00337 - Aerospace Control Operator (AC OP)
General Duties:
The AC Op operates aerospace radars, computers, communications and other sensor systems in the surveillance and control of airspace, both Canadian and foreign. The AC Op participates in
- tactical operations during air sovereignty,
- domestic airspace defence,
- counter drug smuggling missions,
- peace keeping aerospace missions and
- enforcement of Canadian, NORAD and NATO aerospace policies.
The AC Op controls and coordinates the movement of military/ civilian air/ground traffic at CF aerodromes and tactical units. Employment is diversified and includes duties performed in
- underground complexes,
- Airborne Warning and Control aircraft (E-3),
- aerodrome tower,
- Military Terminal Control Centre (MTCC),
- field operations, and
- isolated environments.
AC Op are required to carry out radio communications, and real time command and control computer entries which affect flight safety. The consequence of error in judgement or delayed reaction could jeopardize flight safety resulting in loss of life and/or aircraft.
