Director of Staff, Strategic Joint Staff

Major-General Ritchie enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1994 and was badged into Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) in 1998. He has commanded from platoon to brigade level, including 2 PPCLI and 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. He has also served as the Deputy Commanding General – Operations for XVIII Airborne Corps of the United States Army.

His staff experiences include Aide de Camp to the Chief of the Defence Staff, Canadian Army G35, Canadian Army Acting G3, a secondment to the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat of the Privy Council Office, Canadian Joint Operations Command J3, and Chief of Staff for the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff.

Major-General Ritchie assumed the duties of the Director of Staff of the Strategic Joint Staff on 16 August 2024. He is married with two children.
