Government of Canada announces structuring advisors to assist with inaugural issuance of green bonds

On June 11, 2021, the Government of Canada announced that TD Securities and HSBC have been named as structuring advisors to assist with the government’s inaugural issuance of green bonds. They will provide advice on the design of Canada’s green bond framework, assist in the development of the ongoing program and support a successful inaugural issuance. The appointment of structuring advisors — which is in line with the approach of other national governments that have issued green bonds — is the first of multiple milestones in advance of issuing Canada’s inaugural green bond in 2021-22.
