Recapture of inmate from Saskatchewan Penitentiary – Minimum security unit

September 8, 2026 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Correctional Service Canada

At 9:30 a.m. on September 8, 2026, inmate Scott Sargefield was apprehended by the Saskatoon Police Service. 

This inmate had been unlawfully at large from the minimum security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary, since September 7, 2026.

The Correctional Service of Canada and Saskatchewan Penitentiary are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ensuring the safety and security of its correctional institutions, staff, and the public remains the highest priority of the Correctional Service of Canada.
