Hi, I'm Donny. I'm a Correctional Officer Two. I work at the Admission and Discharge at Bowden Minimum Institution.

I deal with intakes and releases, so anybody coming from the medium. I do their intake packages, their immediate needs, and get them placed in the cell, get everything organized with their food to make sure they got their bedding and clothing with them.

And then I go through their property that came from the medium, make sure I match it up with their property card and something that's unauthorized, I'll remove it. And if the inmates currently in the institution will put it to the side, you got 30 days to claim it.

A&D is admission and discharge. Basically saying, I admit inmates that come in from the medium to the minimum and discharge when they get released for day parole, full parole, the stat release or the warrant expiry. We do the paperwork and they leave.

We are located in the A&D storage area where all the inmate personal effects are kept. When they come over from the medium, their stored effects are in there and I bring it out here, put it in the stored box, put the label, as they're all numbered with their faces, and I enter it in OMSR.

The challenges I usually have is since I'm the only person in here, sometimes I'm having enough hours in a day because I got to deal with intake.

Soon as one guy's, sorry, in the morning, soon as one guy gets released, I do that first thing in the morning, do his release paperwork, get him out, bring the next guy in by about 10 o'clock, get all that done, go through his effects, try to get it back to him quick as possible.

Then at the same time, then you're, sometimes you're getting ready for the next release, take him to the finance side, get his paperwork ordered.

The day goes by quick, I like that. Just sitting around doing nothing, you're always doing something to keep you moving, keep you active. And yeah, just next thing you know, your day's done and you're going home, spend time with your family every evening, that's one of the best things about this schedule and get a weekend with my family.
