Why was the policy changed?
This policy was revised to provide more direction and procedures on the process and standards for the deployment of firearms and security equipment.
What has changed?
- Procedures for the supply, exchange and recording of a firearm when an officer is on authorized duties outside of the institution.
- Annex B - Firearm Deployment Standards was removed and made into a policy tool that will also be expanded over time to include security equipment deployment standards.
How was it developed?
- The Correctional Operations and Programs Sector revised this policy in collaboration with the Strategic Policy Division.
Who will be affected by the policy?
All CSC management and all staff responsible for use, care and control of firearms.
