Why was the policy changed?

Following the promulgation of CD 566-6 in October 2017, there was concern regarding the ratio of officers for ground escorts of maximum and medium security inmates when using a vehicle equipped with multiple compartments.

What has changed?

The language in paragraph 5 of the CD has been strengthened to specify the requirements for staff ratios when conducting ground escorts using vehcles with multiple compartments.

These policy changes were developed by the Security Branch in consultation with the Strategic Policy Division.
