• Commissioner’s Directive (CD) 340 – Electronic Security Systems
• Guidelines (GL) 340-1 – Electronic Security Systems Scope
• CD 650 – Technical Security Systems (revoked)

This CD was updated to modernize and clarify the scope of electronic security systems. The new GL 340-1 – Electronic Security Systems Scope explicitly identify the systems under Electronic Security Systems’ responsibility.

Several major changes have been made to these documents, including:

• CD 650 responsibilities have been integrated into CD 340
• community antenna television infrastructure responsibilities, described in CD 341 – Reception and Distribution of Television Signals, have been integrated into CD 340 via GL 340-1
• the Director General, Security, is now responsible for system requirements
• the Director General, Preventive Security and Intelligence, is now responsible for intelligence-related electronic security system requirements
• the Director, Electronic Security Systems, is responsible for the specifications, the approval, the acquisition, and the deployment of electronic security systems
• the policy now defines the responsibility of the Chief Information Officer, IT/IM Services, for any future systems connected to the IT/IM infrastructure
• electronic security systems responsibilities have been extended to Community Correctional Centres.

These documents were developed and amended in cooperation with the Strategic Policy Division as well as internal stakeholders involved in Electronic Security Systems at Regional and National Headquarters.
