Technical amendments to Commissioner's Directive 581 - Violations of the Law by Inmates.
Why was the policy changed?
A review was conducted by Security, Legal Services and Policy to ensure that the provisions on inmates rights were current with recent court cases and implications of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Paragraph 12 is being amended to be consistent with paragraph 24 of the revised CD 580 - Discipline of Inmates.
What is the purpose of the change?
To be consistent with changes in law and practice.
