A blue wool sample is visible inside a pipette along with a piece of lead acetate test paper. The time lapse photography shows what happens when the wool sample in the pipette is heated over a flame. As the blue wool sample shrivels and turns black, the lead acetate paper changes colour from white to brown and then to black. The glass in the pipette adjacent to the wool sample becomes coated with a brown residue as the wool degrades.
