Biography
Amanda Ogilvie has a Master’s in Museum Studies from the National University of Ireland, Cork, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education with a specialization in visual art from Concordia University. Amanda obtained her teaching licence following the completion of her bachelor’s degree. Prior to joining the Knowledge Sharing Division of the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) in 2018, Amanda worked as a curatorial assistant at the Diefenbunker Museum and as a substitute teacher in Montréal. As a part of her studies, she completed internships at the National Gallery of Ireland, the Museum of Natural History Vienna, the Cork Public Museum and various elementary and secondary schools in Montréal. She also worked part-time in the visitor experience section at the National Gallery of Ireland during her graduate studies. Her graduate dissertation focused on researching literacy skill-building opportunities in museum educational programming.
In her role at CCI, Amanda applies both of her study areas. She works closely with her colleagues to develop a variety of professional development opportunities for heritage professionals and volunteers. She continues to research and take training on topics related to training needs analysis, online learning, scenario-based training and adult learning.
