Canada-France Agreement — Museums Assistance Program

The Canada-France Agreement component of the Museums Assistance Program (MAP) provides funding for joint missions between French and Canadian heritage organizations, to create ties and enhance competencies of museum professionals.

Who can apply

Applicants must meet the criteria in 1 of the following 3 categories:

1. Incorporated non-profit Canadian museums^{Footnote 1} which:
   • employ at least 1 paid professional staff (full-time, part-time or seasonal, excluding students)
   • have policies for key museum functions

or

2. Museums associations and incorporated non-profit Canadian service organizations whose membership relates to the museum sector which:
   • employ at least 1 paid professional staff (full-time, part-time or seasonal, excluding students)

or

3. Indigenous governing bodies or organizations with a mandate to preserve and support First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis heritage

Federal departments, Crown corporations and agencies are not eligible for MAP funding.

Application deadline

The next application deadline is March 31, 2026, at 4 pm (ET).

How to apply

Applicants are required to:

• review the Application Guidelines — Canada-France Agreement
• contact the nearest regional office of the Department of Canadian Heritage to discuss their project and request an application package
• complete and submit their application form
