Northern Aboriginal Broadcasting – Indigenous Languages Program

The Northern Aboriginal Broadcasting (NAB) component of the Indigenous Languages Program supports the production and distribution of Indigenous audio and video content.

Who can apply

Application is limited to a targeted group of existing recipients of the Northern Aboriginal Broadcasting component.

To be eligible for funding, your organization or group must:

• have received funding from the Northern Aboriginal Broadcasting component in 2025-2026;
• be an incorporated Indigenous not-for-profit organization;
• be an Indigenous government and equivalent organization, and its delegated authorities such as a council, government or Indigenous group, community or people that holds rights recognized and affirmed by section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982; or
• in exceptional circumstances, be a non-Indigenous not-for-profit organization working in partnership with Indigenous organizations or Indigenous advisory committees in situations where Indigenous organizations do not exist.

In addition, your organization or group must provide broadcast communications north of the Hamelin Line, which is drawn at the 55th parallel and defines the Canadian North for purposes of policy.

Applicants are required to:

• read the Application Guidelines – Northern Aboriginal Broadcasting; and
• contact the Department of Canadian Heritage to request an application package and to submit the required documentation.
