Conjunction

This sculpture can be found at the Embassy of the United States of America, on Sussex Drive, in Ottawa.

This bronze piece is a strong statement of friendship between Canada and the United States. Artist Joel Shapiro wanted the sculpture to “represent the close historical ties and relationship” between the U.S. and Canada. He also wanted it to be “about the future, understood from common pasts.”

Unveiled by Hillary Rodham Clinton, Conjunction was created to accompany the new U.S. Embassy, inaugurated in 1999.
