Canada History Week
Canada History Week was created to provide people throughout Canada with opportunities to learn more about the people and events that have shaped the country we know today.
Over the span of 10 years, the Canada History Fund supported the development and distribution of learning materials related to interesting and important themes. Content was created in collaboration with organizations in the history community and distributed widely in English and French to students, educators and people across Canada. Through 21 captivating short videos, the stories of community leaders, scientists, artists and activists were presented, in addition to stories related to significant events. These short videos have garnered over 13 million views and counting on social media platforms.
The dynamic visual content and written materials developed to mark Canada History Week continue to be available for use by teachers, students, and anyone with an interest in learning about the difficult stories and the remarkable achievements of people in Canada. Social media
To promote and engage in learning about history in Canada and the remarkable stories of individuals who have shaped this country, participants post photos, videos and messages on social media, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, using the hashtag #CanadaHistoryWeek.
