Captain Catherine Lacombe on trans-Atlantic trip of three icebreakers to Canada

Catherine Lacombe, Commanding Officer: My name is Catherine Lacombe. I'm a commanding officer in the Atlantic region and will be assigned to the first Viking vessel that will be coming into the fleet in December.

It was my first transatlantic journey, so it was an opportunity of a lifetime for a person that is in the Coast Guard because normally we’re mostly inside the Canadian water.

So there was a few of us from Coast Guard that went over as passenger to learn the vessel. Especially the two commanding officer, myself and the other commanding officer that, you know, really wanted to be part of this journey to see the vessel in action and have the occasion to actually learn before we are port in charge of operating those vessels.

So that was a golden opportunity for us to be able to partake in that, in that transit and there was an excellent excellent collaboration on the tour Viking we had the most experienced commanding officer of Viking sailing the vessel which was invaluable in experience sharing and knowledge transfer I feel extremely privileged to be part of this this adventure and this opportunity.
