Canadian Coast Guard successfully powers ship using biodiesel

Our iconic red and white fleet is embracing eco-friendly renewable fuels, with impressive results.

Last summer, we piloted 100% biodiesel on the CCGS Caribou Isle, slashing net greenhouse gas emissions by up to a whopping 80%!

Only minimal vessel modifications were needed for this successful trial.

These demonstrations inform and influence how Coast Guard will fuel its future to remain flexible, ready, resilient and integrated.

As we ramp up renewable fuel usage across our fleet, we’re improving our greening posture and championing climate action for the entire maritime industry.
