Critical Minerals Resilience and Production Alliance

Mandate

In June 2025 at the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, G7 partners welcomed the Critical Minerals Production Alliance, now known as the Critical Minerals Resilience and Production Alliance (the Alliance).The Alliance works with trusted international partners to foster the development of secure, resilient critical minerals supply chains and to counter market concentration and manipulation.

Represented by Envoys from each G7 country, Australia and the European Commission, the Alliance works to accelerate the development of projects that ensure secure supply for advanced manufacturing and defence, reduce vulnerabilities and counter supply chain concentration. By leveraging sovereign tools and fostering high-standard partnerships, the Alliance mobilizes capital, accelerates project development and promotes innovation, economic growth and shared prosperity across G7 and international partner nations.

Membership (Envoys)

Canada and its Alliance partners have appointed Envoys to the Critical Minerals Production Alliance who lead efforts to accelerate critical mineral projects, strengthen global supply chains and advance sustainable resource development. France currently chairs the Alliance under its 2026 G7 Presidency. The Alliance Envoys are:

• Canada: Isabella Chan, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Natural Resources Canada
• United States: David Copley, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chain for the United States
• Japan: Hiroyuki Hatada, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan
• Germany: Matthias Koehler, Deputy Director General of Raw Materials Policy for Germany
• France: Benjamin Gallezot, Interministerial Delegate for Critical Minerals of France
• United Kingdom: Chris McDonald, Minister for Industry in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Department for Business and Trade of the United Kingdom
• Italy: Alberto Castronovo, Head of Investment and Internationalization within the Cabinet of the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy
• Australia: Geoff Mason, General Manager of the Critical Minerals Security Branch at Australia’s Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR)
• European Union: Kerstin Jorna, Director General Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (GROW) of the European Union

Progress to date

• June 2026
  • At the G7 Leaders' Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, leaders agreed to broaden the Critical Minerals Production Alliance into the Critical Minerals Resilience and Production Alliance, providing a framework for cooperation across the value chain.
  • Canada announced a third round of 13 new partnerships and initiatives with more than eight countries (read the Prime Minister’s news release for more information)
• March 2026
  • At PDAC 2026, Canada announced a second round of 30 strategic partnerships, investments and measures under the Critical Minerals Production Alliance with 12 allied partners (read the news release for more information)
• October 2025
  • Canada announces the first round of 26 strategic investment, partnerships and measures under the Critical Minerals Production Alliance to accelerate the development of secure critical minerals supply chains (read the news release for more information)
  • Canada and Australia sign a Joint Declaration of Intent to collaborate on the promotion of secure, diversified and resilient critical minerals supply chains
  • Critical Minerals Production Alliance Envoys from each G7 countries are officially named
