The Véloroute of the Acadian Peninsula: A Sustainable Success

The Acadian Peninsula, known for its breathtaking coastal views and rich cultural heritage, is a beacon of sustainable tourism and community connectivity thanks in part to the success of its iconic cycling path.  The Peninsula’s Véloroute has transformed the region, bringing numerous benefits to both residents and visitors by allowing them to safely explore scenic landscapes and spend valuable time together.  The path has become a social hub where people of all ages and backgrounds can connect and share their love of cycling.

The 610-kilometre Véloroute has made a significant impact on the local economies of the seven communities and one rural district it links together, as it attracts tourists from across Canada and beyond who are eager to explore the Peninsula’s natural beauty and vibrant culture. This increased tourism has created jobs and provided new opportunities for residents, fostering economic growth.

ACOA has supported the Véloroute since its inception, helping to build the trails and conduct marketing activities. Most recently, ACOA has helped with an initiative to enhance the organization’s digital presence and provide local businesses the "Allô Vélo" certification, indicating they have the knowledge and equipment to assist cyclists visiting the region.
