4th Artillery Regiment (General Support), RCA

The 4th Artillery Regiment (General Support) (4 Regt [GS]) provides critical warfighting capabilities to the Canadian Army and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as part of the Canadian Combat Support Brigade (CCSB).

Their Medium Range Radar (MRR) provides early warning against enemy aircraft locally while also informing the Recognized Air Picture. Beyond aircraft, the MRR is capable of detecting enemy mortars, cannon and rocket artillery.

The CU172 Blackjack is a Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle capable of providing real-time answers to critical questions posed by Commanders. Capable of day, night and extended range operations, the Blackjack enables target acquisition throughout the battle space.

To incorporate the effects and capabilities of the MRR and CU172 Blackjack, Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group headquarters are enabled through the 4 Regt (GS) Airspace Coordination Centers (ASCCs). The ASCCs provide early warning against threats and coordinate ground based air defence.

Finally, the Regiment enables 1st Canadian Division operations across the spectrum of conflict through Fires, Air Defence and Surveillance and Target Acquisition Coordination Centers.
